Overseas Ministry Coordinator Dan Clowers has requested a $50,000 grant to be divided two ways: $30,000 for Mexicali, Mexico, to assist in land purchase for a large church construction, and $20,000 for church plant projects in South America, the first in La Paz, Bolivia.
The work in Mexicali, Mexico, has grown to about 800 in the last two years, and attendees are literally hanging out the doors of the building. They have been paying for new property upon which to build. The grant will help either to finish paying what is owed or to start the construction of a new church building that will seat 1,000 or more. Conference Superintendent Abel Robles, the pastor of this church, has never asked for help, but has given his approval to request help for six other construction projects we have done over the years. Clowers says, “ I would like to see us help in this great cause.”
The work in La Paz, Bolivia, was started two years ago and is doing well. Another is planned for Cochibamba, Bolivia. These works require upfront money to pay rent
and other costs for the first few months. Clowers also has plans for three other church plants in Peru. La Paz is part of the overall vision to reach the tribal people of Latin America. The IPHC missionary to Costa Rica, Iber Luis Prado, is doing an excellent work but lacks support. Until the work is self-supporting, he will need additional help.
