The Pastors Who are Changing Honduras
by Daniel & Rocio Pitti
On May 29, 2008 the International Pentecostal Holiness Church in Honduras celebrated their 10th anniversary. This work began with the vision of missionary Iber Luis Prado and family, who first evangelized house by house. As the congregation grew to 100, he transferred his ministry to a tent and soon after, land was purchased in the Santa Barbara area. In 1999, the tent church moved into a church building with the aid of teams from the United States. Today, this building is the Central International Pentecostal Holiness Church. Iber Luis planted not just this church, but six in total. Today, we have 17 churches in different areas of the country.
Another notable pastor, Pastor Ivis Chirino, his wife Antonia, there son Milton, 7, and their daughter Alexandra, 5, are a tremendous family doing the Lord’s work (pictured left). Pastor Ivis is a man who loves God, his family, and his work as a bricklayer. He has pastored the International Pentecostal Holiness Church in San Diego, in the Department of Yoro, for three years. Pastor Ivis and his wife go to the San Jose Machigua village once a month to evangelize, a four hour trip from their house. Please keep this family in your thoughts and prayers as they continue to do the Lord’s work.
At right,
Daniel officiated his first wedding, marrying Pastor Reyna I. Elvir and Jose M. Cruz in the Aldea Tierra Amarilla (Yellow Village Land). This wedding was not only a marriage of two souls, but a testimony to all of the community.

In that area, even pastors live in union without marriage, free of conviction and with no example otherwise. Pastor Elvir wanted her marriage to give both her testimony and also an example to the community and future generations.
Those who attended the wedding walked five hours to witness the momentous occasion. We traveled by horseback, carrying the bride's dress, the cake, drinks, and other items (pictured left). The church was packed with members of the community and after the ceremony, they held a service.
