In August I was privileged to travel with Dr. Beacham, Lynnwood Barry, and Tony Martin to attend the G/12 (Government of 12) conference that was hosted by our church in Caracas, Venezuela. I was very proud that our Supt. Hernando Brochero was chosen to serve as the head of the committee to put on such an event. At one point there were more than six thousand attendees. The air was filled with excitement at what was being shared by Pastor Cesar Castellano, the founder of the G/12 movement.
On a personal note I have had some concerns about the G/12 movement for some years and had a chance to share them with Pastor Castellano and later with my superiors. I since have been given a copy of a study that the Assemblies of God did on this matter and have personally chosen to accept this view in my dealings with churches that want to become involved with the G/12 movement. The final statement of the report was, “The G/12 program is not something we feel we should adopt but perhaps adapt.”
Our church in Venezuela is the only church we have in the LAMCAR region that is totally committed to the program as designed by Castellano. All the rest of my churches that are doing what they call G/12 have adapted the things that they feel apply to their vision. We are seeing growth in all of these works.
I count my experience in Venezuela as a very positive time and feel it was definitely a divinely appointed meeting for all who attended.
